# Connection Menu *Editor's note: the connection order below needs confirming. The firmware writes each stored network with priority equal to its position in the list (config.cpp:2564), and the list is built as custom network 1, custom network 2, then the default hotspot (config.cpp:2779-2821). wpa_supplicant prefers the higher number, so the effective order may be the reverse of what this section says.*  This menu has all the hotspot login information. The default hotspot helps you to connect to the interface for the very first time by using WiFi. You can also add another 2 hotspots. If there are more hotspots available at the same time, the instrument will automatically connect to a hotspot by the following order: > 1. hotspot > 2. hotspot > default hotspot If you add a new hotspot while the instrument is switched on, it will take some time to connect to it. If it doesn’t connect, try switching it off and on. The instrument can fully operate without having to connect to any hotspots, however the interface provides you with different ways to configure the instrument. ### Default hotspot Tooltip: A fixed network the instrument always knows. Create a phone hotspot with this name and password and the instrument joins it. Function: The network the instrument always knows about, set at the workshop. Create a phone hotspot with this name and password and the instrument will join it anywhere, which is what makes the interface reachable away from home. #### Name Function: Neotone. Read-only. #### Password Function: digitalhandpan. Read-only. ### My networks Tooltip: Your own networks, such as your home Wi-Fi. The instrument joins whichever it finds. Function: Up to two networks of your own, such as home WiFi. The instrument joins whichever it finds, and falls back to the default hotspot if neither is in range. #### Name Function: The network name, exactly as your router or phone broadcasts it. Two slots. A name of 2 to 32 plain characters; the instrument's own reserved names are refused. #### Password Function: The network password for the name above it, up to 63 characters. #### Save Function: Checks the names and passwords and sends them to the instrument. The instrument rewrites its WiFi configuration at its next check-in, which takes about 15 seconds, and shows UPDATING WIFI CONFIG on the LCD screen while it does. #### Forget WPS Function: Shown only when the instrument has learned a network through the WPS button. Removes that network, after asking you to confirm.
