# Audio Recording Menu ![](media/record-01.png) If the instrument is online you can also press the record button in the record menu of the interface. Another way to make recordings is by enabling the “recording by dome” feature, which begins the recording after pressing down the dome for three seconds. Once you have finished a recording, its track will appear on the list. You can play the recorded audio on the interface, or you can download it or even share it if you prefer (WiFi connection required). If you enable the “Save to instrument” feature in the “SETTINGS” sub menu you will be able to record offline too. When you make an offline recording to the instrument with this feature, it will automatically appear among the recordings the next time you go online with the instrument and connect it to the digital interface. ### Recordings Function: The list of recordings held for your instrument, newest first, with how full your storage is. Each line shows the recording's number, date and scale, with a player to listen to it in the browser and three icons: download, copy url to share, and delete. Here you can manage your recordings. Listen to your instrument’s recordings. #### Record Function: Starts a recording on the instrument. The button is the red dot above the list. Recording continues until you stop it, or until Auto stop ends it after ten seconds of silence when that setting is on. #### Stop Function: Stops the current recording. The finished file appears in the list once the instrument has uploaded it. #### Upload now Function: Shown when recordings are found on the instrument's own storage, with a count. Tells the instrument to upload them to the interface so they appear in the list. Upload progress is shown while it runs. #### Delete all tracks Function: Discards the recordings held on the instrument's own storage without uploading them. Asks you to confirm first. #### Download Tooltip: Download! Function: Saves a recording to your own device. You can download your recordings to your devices. #### Copy url to share Tooltip: Copy url to share! Function: Copies a link to a recording so it can be sent to someone else. Copy the URL of your recordings to share it with others. #### Delete Tooltip: Delete! Function: Removes a recording permanently, after asking you to confirm. If you are not content with a recording you can also delete it. ### Settings Function: How and where recording happens. #### Save to instrument *firmware 6.4+.* Tooltip: Save recordings to the instrument's internal storage (recommended if the WiFi connection is unstable). If there is no WiFi connection, the recording is automatically saved to the instrument. To record offline, 'Start recording by dome' must be switched on first. Function: Writes recordings to the instrument's own storage as well as the server, which is what makes recording possible with no network. An offline recording appears in the list the next time the instrument connects. This feature can enable saving recordings to the instrument itself. With the help of this feature offline recordings are possible. #### Start recording by dome Tooltip: Hold the dome for 3 seconds to start the recording Function: Starts a recording by holding the dome for three seconds, so a take can begin without touching a phone or computer. This is also what makes offline recording possible. If you enable this feature you can begin the recording by pressing down the dome for three seconds. #### Auto stop Tooltip: Auto stop recording after 10 seconds silence Function: Ends a recording by itself after ten seconds of silence, so a take does not run on after you stop playing. The recording stops after 10 seconds of inactivity or not hitting the instrument. #### Audio record *Dev, firmware 6.5+.* Tooltip: If enabled, AUDIO recording will begin when recording starts Function: Includes the instrument's audio when a recording starts. #### MIDI record *Dev, firmware 6.5+.* Tooltip: If enabled, MIDI recording will begin when recording starts Function: Includes the MIDI the instrument sends when a recording starts, so a performance can be captured as notes as well as sound. #### MIDI playback aftertouch *Dev, firmware 6.5+.* Tooltip: OFF: Manual aftertouch is active; MIDI playback aftertouch is ignored. ON: MIDI playback controls aftertouch; manual aftertouch is disabled. Function: Decides who controls aftertouch during MIDI playback. Off, your hands still shape it; on, the recorded MIDI does and your hands are ignored. #### MP3 compression Tooltip: Switch off to record as WAV Function: Chooses the recording format. On, takes are compressed to MP3; off, they are kept as uncompressed WAV. | | | |---|---| | ON | Recording is automatically compressed to MP3 | | OFF | Recording is stored as WAV | #### MP3 quality Tooltip: MP3 bitrate (kbps) Function: Sets the MP3 bitrate, from 128 to 320 kbps.
