# Effects Menu
On the “EQ” tab you can find a 16-band EQ. This configuration is global and affects all scales and all sounds produced by the instrument.

### EQ
#### Equalizer on
*firmware 6.8+.*
Function: Switches the sixteen-band equaliser on or off. It is global: one setting shapes every scale and every sound the instrument makes.
#### Gain correction (dB)
*firmware 6.8+.*
Function: Compensates for the overall level change that boosting or cutting bands causes, so the equaliser does not make the instrument louder or quieter as a side effect.
#### EQ Resolution
*Dev, firmware 6.8+.*
Function: Sets how many filter stages each band uses. More stages give a sharper, narrower band at the cost of processing.
#### EQ Band 1 / 25 Hz (dB)
*firmware 6.8+.*
Function: One of sixteen fixed EQ bands, each cutting or boosting around its own centre frequency. Together they shape the instrument's whole output; the setting is global and applies to every scale and every sound.
#### EQ Band 2 / 40 Hz (dB)
*firmware 6.8+.*
Function: An EQ band. See EQ Band 1 for how the sixteen work.
#### EQ Band 3 / 60 Hz (dB)
*firmware 6.8+.*
Function: An EQ band. See EQ Band 1 for how the sixteen work.
#### EQ Band 4 / 90 Hz (dB)
*firmware 6.8+.*
Function: An EQ band. See EQ Band 1 for how the sixteen work.
#### EQ Band 5 / 140 Hz (dB)
*firmware 6.8+.*

### Dissonance filter
#### Dissonance filter
*Not live, Dev, firmware 6.8+.*
Tooltip: Reduce unwanted ringing and dissonant frequencies
Function: Quietens the frequencies in each recording that do not belong to the scale. Not live: the working version of this filter is the per-scale one in My Scales.
#### Octave brightness
*Not live, Dev, firmware 6.8+.*
Tooltip: Adjust the tonal brightness and presence of the octave overtone (12 semitones above the fundamental)
Function: Adjusts the presence of the octave overtone, twelve semitones above each note. Not live: the working version is Upper octave filter in My Scales.
#### Fifth Color
*Not live, Dev, firmware 6.8+.*
Tooltip: Enhance or soften the shimmer of the compound fifth harmonic for richer character
Function: Adjusts the shimmer of the compound fifth harmonic. Not live: the working version is Upper fifth filter in My Scales.
### Harmony filter
#### Harmony filter
*Not live, Dev, firmware 6.8+.*
Tooltip: Reduce harmony frequencies (octave / fifth)
Function: Quietens the octave and fifth that each sample carries alongside its fundamental. Not live: the working version is the per-scale filter in My Scales.
